Welcome!

This is the bio for my FFXIV character, Ranco Ranca.

This character resides in Crystal, Goblin.

This background would mainly be used in RP, even though I'm incredibly new to it. Only experience I've really had is very little in WoW, and even then I still wasn't very good at it lol.

RP Profile

Lonesome - Quick to Anger - Darkness Within

"Unless you're my beloved, you best be off. Don't have time for fools."

  • Age: Late 30s

  • Occupation: Bodyguard for Hire

  • Relationship Status: Taken by Holly Tarorue

Ranco's friend and family are long gone and behind him. Due to this, Ranco Ranca is a very quiet person, choosing to be on his lonesome as he has no trust or patience for new people. He does his job and then leaves, either to Black Brush for a gallon o' ale or to the Gold Saucer to gamble.

The only time he seems to speak is when his wife is around, as she is the only one could seems to be able to bring Ranco's old self back into existence.

Ranco Ranca

The Crimson Leviathan

Ranco Ranca. Even though the naming scheme is akin to that of the Lalafell, the Crimson Leviathan is not a Lalafell whatsoever.

As an infant, his birth parents abandoned him in unknown lands, believing they were too young to look after a child. They hid him in a bush covered by shrubbery, and essentially left him there to die. Hours past before he was noticed by a kind-hearted Lalafell by the name of Runca Ranca. He had been returning from a trade path sent to Limsa Lominsa from his home village when he heard the infant Roegadyn crying bloody murder. He, with the help of his whole trade group, brought the baby onto their carriage. The Roe was brought to his home and was named Ranco Ranca, cared for by his adoptive father Runca Ranca and his adoptive mother Ranna Ranca for most of his life.

As a child, Ranco wasn't discriminated for his size and stature. He was given showers of love and embrace by the village. He lived a happy life as an infant, a child and eventually a young adult.

Not until Ranco's early 20s was his life struck by disaster. A group of thugs and bandits by the name of The Obsidian Wyrms overrun the small village, killing and plundering everyone in their path. This unfortunately included Runca and Ranna. Ranco found his parents' bodies, mortified that his only family was now gone. The Obsidian Wyrms did a double take on the town, but were spooked upon finding Ranco. They thought him to be a threat just from his stature alone. They retreated, leaving him alive with the bodies of his parents in his arms.

With revenge burning in his heart. Ranco set out to La Noscea and looked for a way to make the Obsidian Wyrms pay for what they did. Upon venturing, he met Curious Gorge and Broken Mountain, warriors seeking to spread their teachings of controlling the inner beast that resides in us all. Surprised by the similarities between he and the other two Roe, he pleaded and begged to be taught their ways. However, Ranco was not taught the way of the warrior. He was told that what lied inside of him was not that of a beast, but darker and more dangerous. Something vengeful and black.

So he left them. He secluded himself, and lived in solitude. He honed this black, dangerous spirit inside of him for a decade. Through tapping into this dark power, he became a Dark Knight. Using this deep power within, he sought the Obisidan Wyrms and slaughtered them all. As his armor was stained by their blood, any stragglers that were able to hide from his vengeful wrath spread word of him, saying he was demon known as "The Crimson Leviathan" when they returned to civilization.

Even with his life's goal completed, Ranco felt...nothing. He did not feel joy at the death of his enemies, nor did he feel angry at them. The darkness consumed him and what he was. He became a regretful shell of what his parents knew him as, and if they were around today, he knows they would look at him with fear in his eyes.

Now Ranco puts his name up as a bodyguard for hire, protecting those who pay him the most, be it a villain or a savior. Morals no longer matter to a man who has nothing else to live for, only money for another pint to drown his sorrows.

The Tarorue Request

As a bodyguard of no moral, Ranco was hired to protect all types of monsters or rich folk, most of the time a combination of both. Due to this, normal civilians eventually started seeing him as a monster. While walking through the paths of Limsa Lominsa or the streets of Ul'dah, a normal occurrence is to see crowds berate him with deplorable comments or throw trash at him. The sad part is he doesn't care; he just accepts and ignores it.

On one random occasion though, he was approached at a tavern by a jester dress in purple. She provided him a letter from a rich family named the Tarorues, detailing that they request a meeting with the dark knight. The jester shortly left after the letter was in his hand. So, after downing his last gallon of mead, Ranco Ranca payed the tavernkeep and set out to meet his new clients.

House Tarorue was no different from the other greedy folk the Roegadyn worked for. A tall mansion-like building with multiple servants mucking about. The only difference was the vast amount of purple and lavender colors used in their decor and uniforms. This did not change for the Hyur patriarch and his wife either. Even his facial hair was a lavender color.

The request from Master Tarorue was an odd one, and different from what he has usually done. Instead of protecting him, his beloved, or even his house and all of his riches, he requested that Ranco Ranca accompany his daughter, Holly Tarorue. They disapproved of her want to stray away from the path they had set out for her, which essentially boiled down to arranged marriage.

However, they were not completely cruel. Although they heavily disapproved of her wanting to stray, they were willing to let her try out her want for an adventuring lifestyle to "get it out of her system" before they marry her off. Unfortunately, they had wanted someone more fitting of her introverted personality, but the accursed Crimson Leviathan was the best they could find on such short notice.

This was no matter to the Leviathan. All he really wanted was money, and with how much gil they were offering him, it seemed incredibly easy. Out walked Holly, a small Hyur lady in her early-mid 20s. She was dressed in a large garb that didn't even seem to fit her, as well as a hat that covered most of her face. She held a tome in her hand, signifying that she was practicing the teachings of an Arcanist.

He scoffed to himself as he saw the naive girl. He turned around and began to walk out, Holly shyly and quietly following him. She asked what the Roe's name was, as she hadn't gotten the chance to hear it during the conversation that he and her controlling parents had. He turned his head to her as he kept walking, and in a gruff voice, he plainly said "My name is Ranco Ranca." She softly smiled which awoke something odd in the dark knight. He turned his head away, trying to remove that feeling from him.
